IRB - Online
Informational Only…
Virginia Tech’s Institutional Review Board for Research Involving Human Subjects (IRB) has established an on-line system for applying for human-subject research and for tracking applications.
IRB Protocol Management is a web-based system that allows researchers (both Virginia Tech and non-Virginia Tech) to submit IRB applications online, track the progress of submitted applications, and save IRB protocol-related documents online.
The release date of this new system is January 5, 2009. As of January 12, 2009, ALL new / initial IRB applications (including interim) MUST be submitted using the online system.
Features and benefits of IRB Protocol Management:
* Receive immediate feedback while completing an online application regarding missing
information.
* View your co-investigators’ IRB training and CV requirement statuses, and auto-prompt him/
her to meet the requirements.
* Investigators’ CVs are stored online, and therefore do not need to be provided with each
individual IRB application.
* Save and collaborate application drafts with your research team.
* Track the progress and status of submitted applications.
* View and download approved study documents from anywhere with Internet connection.
* Download approval letters.
Preview the system by visiting the following webpage: http://www.irb.vt.edu/pages/pmpreview.htm
We believe this new system will streamline the IRB process for our researchers, and encourage our researchers to provide feedback once they start using the system so that we may continue to make enhancements.
